Anima Christi

Soul of Christ, sanctify me. Body of Christ, save me. Blood of Christ, inebriate me. Water from the side of Christ, wash me. Passion of Christ, strengthen me. O good Jesus, hear me. Within Thy wounds, hide me. Suffer me not to be separated from Thee. From the malicious enemy, defend me. In the hour of my death call me and bid me come unto Thee, that I may praise Thee with Thy saints and with Thy angels forever and ever. Amen.

A Tale of John Owens

I have a brother-in-law. His name is John Owen. He's not the only one. He claims another John Owen as his namesake, the Presbyterian from the 17th century. John Owen the Elder seems like a pretty cool guy. He was admitted to Queens College, Oxford, at age 12 and only slept four hours a night during his academic exercises. He had 11 children, which is pretty good. I don't know if John Owen the younger can even top that. He died at 67.

But now I want to let you in on a little secret. THERE IS ANOTHER JOHN OWEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Some may say he was not a true John Owen, because his real name was Nicholas Owen. I think it should count though because he liked to be called John Owen, and his nickname was "Little John". He was a pretty cool guy too, because he was martyred in 1606 in London, England for his Faith. He is sometimes called "God's carpenter". Check out this webpage for some of the story:

I tried doing lots of searches for Peter Johnson, the upstanding Reformed man, and you'll be pleased to know that all of those that turned up, turned up dead. That's what must happen to Reformed folks, just up and dying like that, being included in church death records.
A search for Papist Pete got even less, revealing that he is a "belching Gauloise-smoking hypocritical papist bastard," but that's the same old Pete that I know, not someone else with the same name. I'll keep looking.

By grace I'll proudly wear the title Papist as I hum a humble song of the Grace that found me here.

There has to be at least one Reformed Pete Johnson.
