The above is really an illusion to fool the little imp. The present on the table our neighbors brought over. That's a leftover corn muffin from a few nights ago. The hat is from some other little girl's party a few days ago. He'll never know.

phew...then we weren't complete jerks to annika. her party was three and a half months late, sandwiched in the middle of a houghton-reunites-with-joel-and-sonya-dunham bash. her cake was a boot, but a sorry-shaped boot made of cake from a box. (millie got an wheat-germ applesauce cake shaped like a jack-in-the-box for her first birthday.)

SO....HAPPY BIRTHDAY, HAVEN! May this first be the first of many more, and may you never know the difference between a corn muffin and a cupcake. We love you, buster!
